Our Home Inspectors are trained and certified on all types of residential and commercial roofing. Eric Munhall worked in the roofing industry for 20 years. He was a member of the Western States Roofing Contractors Association, the National Roofing Contractors Association, the Cedar and Shake Bureau and the Tile Manufacturer’s Association. His educational background includes certifications with the Roofing Industry Educational Institute (RIEI). And, of course, it includes the InterNACHI course on Roof Inspections.
Each Freeway Home Inspector must take the InterNACHI course and pass the exam every two years, at a minimum. This course helps to train field inspectors on all different types of roofing; the various roofing components, including sheathing and roof structures. The course also focuses on identification of defects in manufacturing and installation of, and damage to roof systems, as well as identifying issues of wear that affect the ability of a roof system to protect the house against moisture. The InterNACHI course also include building codes related to roofing, and manufacturer’s installation guidelines, and provides an inspection procedural checklist. The inspection process, where applicable, is performed from the ground, from on top of the roof and from inside the attic.
